Mary Sharp speaks at DRI Diversity for Success Seminar in Chicago

Mary spoke on the topic “What You Don’t Know Can Hurt You:  Unconscious Bias in Law Practice – How to Recognize and Interrupt It” on June 16 with Sean C. Griffin of Dykema Gossett PLLC, in Washington, DC, and Kathleen Nalty of Kathleen Nalty Consulting LLC, in Denver, CO.

Scientists estimate that 80 percent or more of our thinking happens outside our conscious awareness. Mary and the other panelists discussed the everyday unconscious attitudes, thoughts, and beliefs that leak into our decision-making and workplace, and how to identify and interrupt those unconscious biases.

DRI’s 12th annual Diversity for Success Seminar and Corporate Expo was held June 15-16, 2017, at the Swissôtel Chicago. Attendees discovered how to implement creative strategies to help realize measurable outcomes and objectives, starting at the leadership level, and participated in cutting-edge dialogue with interactive exercises designed to help organizations in their efforts to build and sustain meaningful diversity programs.
