The South Carolina Bar Foundation welcomes Beaufort attorney Mary Sharp to its board of directors with her term beginning July 1.
As a member of the board, Sharp will be working with the Bar Foundation to advance justice to all South Carolina citizens through the programs and services offered by the nonprofit's 19 grant organizations.
Sharp serves as a municipal judge for the City of Beaufort. She received her BA from North Carolina State University and her JD from the Wake Forest University School of Law. Sharp has held state and national leadership roles, serving as president of the Lowcountry Legal Volunteers, the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association and the National Conference of Women's Bar Associations. She is currently a member of the SC Bar House of Delegates and sits on the board of directors for Broad River Healthcare, Lowcountry Legal Volunteers, the Historic Beaufort Foundation and the Surgery Center for Beaufort. In 2009, Sharp was honored as one of 10 South Carolina Leaders in the Law by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly. Last year, she was selected to participate as one of 44 leaders from across the Lowcountry in the 8th Riley Institute Diversity Leaders Initiative.
